10-u Stars bring home the GOLD MEDAL from the
Regional State Games in Roanoke Rapids!
Game 1 matched up our Stars against a fine team from Tarboro,with the stars taking an 8-4 win!The stars could not find the bats for the 1st 2 innings only getting a single base runner when Chase Roup got a lone single in the 2nd inning.As a result,the stars quickly fell behind 1-0 on 3 back to back hits from the Tigers.The Stars warmed up by the 3rd inning getting 3 runs behind the hitting of Seldon Bullock with a lead-off single,an rbi triple from Spencer Ramsey,an rbi single from David Williams,and another rbi triple from Jordan Braswell.The Tigers picked up a run in the bottom of the 3rd closing the gap 3-2.The Stars challenged in the 4th following a double from Will Adams and a single from Selden Bullock but could not find a way to score.After holding the Tigers in the 4th, the Stars banged out 5 hits in the 5th to ad 2 runs behind a lead-off double from David Williams,a triple from Bradley Jackson,a single from Jordan Braswell,a single from Mark Gooding, and a single from Micah Varnell.The Tigers added a run in the 5th following a lead-off triple to close the score to 5-3.The Stars added 3 insurance runs in the 6th as the bats continue to smoke.Ramsey singles followed by a walk to Williams and a double from Jordan Braswell and a single from Brennan Beck to bring the score to 8-3.The Tigers mounted one last threat in the 6th after their lead-off batter walks followed by a hit and another walk,but could only put one final run on the board as the Stars defence shuts them down with a ko followed by a pop-up to 3rd baseman Trevor Hayworth and a fly out to 2nd baseman Bradley Jackson.The Stars banged out 15 hits on 32 at bats lead by Spencer Ramsey(2-4,3B,2R),David Williams(2-3,2B,BB,3R),Jordan Braswell(3-4,3B,2B,2R).
Bradley Jackson picks up the win going 4 innings and Brennan Beck gets the save pitching 2 innings. The Stars advance with the win to play Wilson.
Game 2 matches up the Stars with the Wilson Tornadoes.Hot hitting continues for the Stars as Spencer Ramsey starts the game with a double to center field and scores on Jordan Braswell's single to give the Stars a Quick 1-0 lead.Spencer Ramsey gets the start for the stars getting the Wilson lead-off batter to ground out to 2nd before the next batter singles.The following batter grounds out to 1st baseman Trevor Hayworth with the Wilson runner advancing to 3rd.One of the Highlights of the game comes next with catcher David Williams hustleing to pick up a wild pitch and making a diving tag as the Wilson runner tries to score to end the inning.The Stars get 2 hits in the 2nd from Will Adams and Selden Bullock but the runners are left on base with no one scoring.The Stars defence and pitching are flawless thru 4 innings holding the Tornadoes to a breeze,while the Stars continue to ad runs.Spencer Ramsey leads-off the 3rd with a single followed by a single from Bradley Jackson,a double from Jordan Braswell,a single from Brennan Beck and a double from Will Adams to ad 3 runs.The 4th finds hits from Selden Bullock,Ramsey,and Williams but no runs are made as Wilson comes up with the plays on defence.Wilson mounts up one final charge in the 5th to get their lone run of the game as they get 4 singles in the inning before the Stars defence shuts them down.In the bottom of the
5th Andrew Weatherly gets started with a walk followed by an inside the park HOME RUN from Dillon Crawford for the final runs of the game and a 7-1 victory for the Stars advancing them to the Championship Game.

Championship Game
The Tarboro Tigers Advance thru the losers bracket to meet the Stars in the championship.The Tigers get 1 run in the 1st on a single and an error by the Stars defence to take a 1-0 lead.The Stars could not get going as their appear to have cooled off in the 1st ining.The Tigers get another run in the 2nd after their lead-off batter walks and scores on a hit.The Stars bats wake up in the 2nd as Brennan Beck singles,Mark Gooding hits,Will Adams and Selden Bullock walk,followed by a single from Spencer Ramsey to to give the Stars a 3-2 lead.The lead is short-lived as the Tigers score 3 runs in the 3rd on 3 hits,2 errors,and 2 walks to regain the lead with the score 5-3.Mark Gooding gets the Stars only hit in the 3rd. Bradley Jackson comes in relief in the 4th with a great effort backed up by solid defence the rest of the way to prevent any more scoring from this fine Tarboro team.Its now left up to the Stars offence that has been excellent all weekend.Dillon Crawford gets the comeback started with a one-out single,followed by a single from Spencer Ramsey.With the tying run on base,David Williams gets a hit to score both runners and Williams ends up on 3rd to tie the game at 5-5.Bradley Jackson Follows with a single to score Williams for the go ahead run to give the Stars a 6-5 lead after 4 innings.The Stars ad 2 runs in the 5th on hits from Mark Gooding a walk from Micah Varnell,a triple from Dillon Crawford and a single from Spencer Ramsey for an 8-5 lead.The Tigers have one shot left;however,Bradley Jackson calmly ko's the 1st batter and gets the 2nd to ground out back to the pitcher.The last out of the game comes on a hard hit ball to the Stars short stop Ramsey for the final out and the championship.
